Located just about an hour’s drive from Ranchi, Getalsud Dam is easily accessible by personal car or rented taxi. Also, you can visit this place along with Jonha falls, Sita Falls, and Hundru Falls, as all are almost on the same direction.

It was built in 1971 to cater to the drinking water needs of Ranchi’s inhabitants, as well as to support industrial and farmland requirements. The dam has a catchment area of 717 square kilometers and a full reservoir level of 1,954 feet. Nowadays, it primarily serves the water needs of the nearby farmland, Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd at Hatia, and other industries in the region​​.
